Golden Touch Fluke 7/30/12

Golden Day on the Golden Touch. Fished with Howie, Bill, Jack, Richie and John Cole today. Fine Fluking. Howie was high hook with 7 Fluke and a few big ones. with Howie Allen and 2 others.

Sea Soda Fluke 7/712

Fished with  Howie, John, Devin and Brian Budda sticks on the Sea Soda today for a pre tourney fluke trip . We caught a ton of fluke up to 7lbs and a couple nice sea bass!

Cod and Haddock 4/22/12

Capt. Dave pretty much summed it up. Busy catching cod, haddock and cusk all day. Chad had a nice rosefish. By the end of the day we had at least 60 fish in the boxes for the six of us. Nice trip.

Dave fished with us and caught quite a few on his new Kevin Bogan 7ft carbon mix rod.
Weather held out for us but we had 5-8 footers pretty much all day and no rain.
Great fishing and having dinner with Howie, Jon, Chad, Sean and Rusty. Glad we all got out and had a good trip.

Capt. Dave and Sandro took care of us all day and sent us all home with a 15lb bag of fillets.

Norma K III Night Ling Report 02/18/12

I took a break from the Mackerel this weekend and fished with Snapperhead today on the Norma K III on their 8-2:30 Ling and Cod trip. Snapper's buddy Leif was gearing up for the tennis team try-outs and missed the trip. We had a beautiful day on the water and came home with a bunch of nice ling.


Capt. Matt made several spots to try and get the boat over some ling minus the dogfish. Every stop had fish on it. We had to move a few times but Capt. Matt hit it right on the last one and we were catching them one after the other. We had some small fish but most were nice size medium ling.

We used our Kevin Bogan Carbon Mix 7ft Ling rods and Snapper and I wound up with 51 ling. A far cry from the reports of this past week but we were more than happy. A Pollack won the pool.

We stopped by Kevin Bogan's shop to say hello and check out the rods before getting a bowl of clam chowder for the road. Nice work they are doing over there. Beautiful rods.

Golden Eagle Mackerel Report 02/09/12

 A great day out on the Golden Eagle. I managed 200 mackerel almost filling my 72 quart cooler!

It's not too often you meet someone with such a passion for fishing. Fishing for mackerel is not easy these days but Capt. Jimmy Elliott still makes the effort. Comercial fishing, rising costs, fierce competition and other factors don't stop him.

He takes people fishing because he loves it. He wants them to catch fish. He wants them to catch mackerel. He consistently monitors the situation and adapts, making every effort to fill the coolers.

Capt. Jimmy has respect for the customers he has and is happy when they catch fish. He respects the tradition and the diversity the mackerel fishing brings.

Golden Eagle Big Mac Attack!! 01/28/12

Mack attack is right! Boy, We killed 'em today. Ben and I had about 300 macks. We were smiling the whole day. The trip just kept getting better with some bigguns at the end. I filleted about 150 in an hour and a half and then ran out to dinner. Many zip loc gallon bags filled with macks and herring.


IT WAS MARVELOUS MURDERING THOSE MAGNIFICENT MACKEREL. WE MAXED OUT ON THE MULTITUDES AND MANY MACKEREL MEMORIES WERE MADE!

I had a good feeling about today and it was a great day.
Capt. Jimmy knows how to find them. There is no doubt.

Golden Touch Sunday 1/15/12 Blackfish Report

 Ventured out on the Golden Touch this Sunday for some Blackfish. As most of you know it was very windy and cold. We gave it a shot anyway thinking it wouldn't be too bad but the 2-4 were 3-5 and it was like fishing in a washing machine out there.


It was difficult to stand and feel the bites at times with the chop and ice. One veteran Black fisherman did not attempt to fish. We headed in early and that was probably the right call.

I managed 2 nice keepers and my son never wet a line as he was not feeling well after we got underway. Tony Cav had a nice keeper and had a few good bites. Ron who we fished with as well had a keeper. Nice to meet Frankie and Ron. Hopefully we will fish together again under better conditions! Also...Tony donated his nice keeper so Ron and I wound up with 2 each to take home.

Well, like I said on the boat...I enjoyed myself anyway and caught a few fish.

We had a great breakfast as usual and was offered luch at the dock prepared by the two Franks.

I joined Leif, Suzanne, Ralph, Ron and Julian on the Golden Touch with JC and Frankie.
Arrived to see LAB dropping off some really nice white leggers and hoping that he was fishing with us for the day but was gone in 2 seoconds.

Frank made his usual great breakfast on the way to the tog spot. I started the day boxing the first keeper of the day. The bite was scratchy for the rest of us execpt Leif was a machine. He ended the day with the following:

A great day out fishing and a pleasure meeting the rest of the crew. Frankie made a great paella style lunch as well. Another great day on the GT.

Deal Surf Report 11/19 We got 'em!

I didn't fish the surf this morning because Leif and I hit the Fly Fishing Symposium in Somerset today.
We did get to fish this evening in the Deal surf from 4:30 to 6:00pm.
Snapper head was already fishing when Leif and I arrived. He was fishing a AVA 17 and working the stretch.
We started with AVA's as well, and Ben hooked up shortly after we got there. He lost that fish and said he saw sand eels just as the fish hit. I had one on briefly.
As it got dark we switched to bombers and managed one fish that was 27 1/2 inches on a school bus bomber.
After fishing we stopped off for burgers and talked about our outing. Not a bad way to spend a nice Fall evening.

Golden Touch 11/16 Awesome Blackfish report!!

Fished on the Golden Touch today with Howie, Tropics, Jon Devin, Brian and Allen today for the "Blackfish Opener" As always a great time and good fishing, not to mention many laughs. It is alway a pleasure fishing with this group and boat.
Breakfast on the way out, lunch served...Shrimp and Spanish Rice ect... Frankie is on the money.
Any way the boat landed 29 keepers, Richie had a 9 and I had a 10 pounder(see photo) and we had pretty good weather.
Great fishing with you guys and thanks to Captain John Cole and Frankie for making the extra effort.
Can't wait till next time.. Again, great to see every one and nice meeting and talking to you Allen.

P.S. Almost droped another rod in the drink! Caught it in mid air and landed the fish! Wish I had the video..
