Golden Touch Friday 12/17 Blackfish Report

Got on the Golden Touch last minute on Friday. Thanks for calling Capt.Cole.

Fished with Jon Devin, Susan and three other good blackfisherman Art, John and Joe. Nice to meet you guys.
I had three keepers quickly but I took the rest of the day to scratch out a limit. Jon had a nice fish that was his "PB". Looked to be around 8 or 9 pounds. Jon has some pictures of him hugging that one.

"Susan" hammered them and had some nice sized fish through out the day.

Every time she caught a fish she laughed until it hit the deck. Great to see her enjoy catching those fish so much.
We wound up with the limit for the entire boat plus.
Had a great time as usual. Mate Scott was great and made the trip a pleasure and John's breakfast was on the money.

Deal Surf 12/11 Night Bite

Fished the Deal surf this evening from 9:30pm-11:00pm. I was there earlier on low tide but decided to go back when there was a little more water to fish in.
I got one small fish around 20 inches on the black and purple bomber,

One hit one fish and that was it.
"I'll fish until my fingers fall off"

Deal Surf Report 12/10 Fat Bass/Half Tail

Fished the Deal surf again today from 6-7am again. I worked the black and purple bomber with teaser in the wash and nailed a really fat 23 incher on the black bomber in the dark. She had half the tail missing, just the top fork remained.
I did see some herring flipping around but no fish swirling. It was 20 degrees but didn't feel like it because there was hardly any wind.

Once in a while you get a few minutes before the sun comes up where the sky looks spectacular. This was one of those mornings.

Great to get out and get one.

Deal Surf Report. Banner Evening!!! 4 fish

I fished the Deal surf today from 4:00pm-5:15pm. It was a beautiful evening.
Upon arriving I decided to take a cast off the jetty at Phillips/Connover Ave.
First cast...Fish on. A nice fat 24 incher that took a black and purple bomber. Third cast...another fish on the bomber as well.
It was tough getting them up over the rocks so I moved to the beach and got two more fish. One on the bomber and one on the teaser. One was really fat.The fish were feeding in the wash on small baitfish but most hit the bomber reeled slow. They were swirling in the surf right at my feet.
It was nice to get a few and be out in the cold weather.

Deal Surf weekend Report. "End to a nice weekend"

Had some action in the Deal surf this weekend.
I love this time of year, cold weather, bass in the wash, sandeels...You never know what can happen.... I like getting up early catching a fish or two, do a little work around the house, watch a game and head back down before diner.

That's what I did this weekend and while the fishing wasn't great, it was nice to get a few and fish with Tony and Ben.

I got another short tonight on a black bomber and fished with Snapper in the wash till it got dark. That kid likes to fish and reminds me of myself when I was a kid.(Never wants to leave and stop fishing) As we were leaving he says, "I like being out here in the cold.... feels good. Good end to the weekend" Classic! Now that's a fisherman.

No one else around and a few fish swirling and boiling on the plugs.
Anyway I got home and made myself a Mackerel diner and reflected on the weekend. Not bad as far as I am concerned...

Deal Surf Report. 12/4 Malfunction Day!

Met Tony and Ben in Deal today. We fished from the surf from 6am-8am and tossed Yozuri Crystal Minnows, AVA's and Bombers.

We had some action in the dark as Ben got a 20incher in a teaser. I had one on shortly after that but a frozen drag caused the fish to tear off the hooks in the wash.

Ben then got his braid tangled and in the process dropped his Crystal minnow in the wash, never to be seen again.

Tony's boots were filled with ice water and his feet were just as frozen as my fingers.

"A good time was had by all"

I did see a short caught shortly after sun up and there were som birds working and occasional swirls in the wash.

Deal surf eve. report 11/28 Got "em

Fished a Deal Jetty from 4-5:30pm today. Nice to get out before dinner and fish for a while. It was a nice evening. A little too nice as far as I am concerned. Very flat and calm.
Since it was so flat I worked a Yozuri crystal minnow really slow and had some action. I landed a nice 23 incher and had a few wraps off the Jetty in Deal.

Pretty quiet for this time of year but I was happy catching that fish. It was feisty and beautiful, real clean and "purple"

Should be a good December.

"Golden Touch Rule.....Tog limits 11/27 report

Fished on the Golden touch today with Tony AKA Foul hook and friends. Boat had 48 Keeper Blackfish despite windy conditions and tough anchoring on occasion,

I used my new Kevin Bogan Blackfish rod(nice lite powerful rod)) but was a little off my game with only 5 keepers and 2 billion shorts.

Tony made the meat balls, Frankie made the breakfast and New Blackfisherman Alex set new records for Biggest and most Tog caught. Just unbelievable, Alex had about 9 keepers and most were nice size...biggest around 71/2 pounds.
Everyone caught keepers and a good time was had by all.

Nice to meet Bob, Chris. Mark and Alex. All good fisherman.

Thanks again Tony for asking me to join the trip. You make a great meatball.....

Deal Surf T-Day Bass!! 11/25/10

It was a beautiful morning at the Deal surf today. I met Tony Green and his son Ben at around 6:00am in Deal on this fine Thanksgiving morning.

We worked the stretch with an assortment of lures, needlefish, Yozuri crystal minnows and sand eel imitations with teasers.

Ben caught his Thanksgiving Striper on a Yozuri crystal minnow (black and silver) while it was still dark. It was a nice fat 21 incher.

Congratulations Ben! Great job as no other fish were caught in the area that I coud see.

I did not see any bait or fish in the wash. Very quite with the exception of Ben's bass. We will try again tomorrow.

Deal Surf Report 11/24

Fished a little south of my usual spot in Deal fron 6:00-7:30am or so. Used a Yellow and white bomber and then a Yozuri crystal minnow in green and yellow.
I fished from the surf.. I did see sand eels in the wash. They were being chased by sand dabs as it got light.
Birds were working off the jetties as I left. No hits no errors......
Nice to meet you Marty!! Good takling to you!
Hope to get one on T Day tomorrow..

Deal Surf "Casino" Jackpot!!!!Report 11/20

I fished the Deal surf today from 6-7:30am. I was hesitant to go because of the SW wind but I went anyway because I was up and Tony and Ben said they might be going as well.
I worked the stretch from Roosevelt Jetty down to the Casino. After slinging metal for an hour or so I decided to try a Yellow A-Salt Bomber and I nailed a 30 incher right in the wash in front of the Deal Casino around 7:30am.
It was nice to get a keeper and it made my day. Now I can make a nice batch of Striper chowder and and pan seared Striper fillet with taragon butter.

Opening Day Blackfish Report 11/16/10 "Golden Touch".

Fished on the Golden Touch with Howie, Billy, Eric, Brian Jon, Frankie and Capt. John Cole today for Blackfish.
We had a great day and limited out for the charter. I had my best day ever blackfishing with my limit plus and some of action on shorts. I also had a "pig" that broke me off. Fish up to around 8 pounds were caught. Billy had the big one.
It was great fishing with you guys.. Capt. Cole and Frankie are top notch as far as I am concerned. Great breakfast served, on the fish all day and nice boat to be on.
Everyone caught fish and went home with bags of fillets..A good time was had by all and the weather held out for us and the other Blackfish openers...

Thanks again Howie, Capt. Cole for a great day out, lots of fish great food and a great time. ..
