Fishing update 1/9/10 Mackerel are here!

Miss Belmar Princess " THE BIG MACK EXPRESS" SAT REPORT

Had a descent gang today. Unfortunately had tough drifting conditions today with sustained 25 knots most of the day. We drifted over a knot and ahalf for a good part of the mornging and it was cold. We did get a few blast at them today one drift we banged away for 40 minutes or so. Some people only had 30 , some had 50 or better a few had 100. The 3 crew fiiled a half a barrel .All depended on how hard you fished and if you were willing to fish with a 16 ounce sinker. Those who held the bottom and using a 4 teaser rig were in the game those who didnt faired other wise.

1/08/10

Looks like the Mackerel are finally starting to make an appearance. Captain Jimmy Elliott of the Miss Belmar Princess, Belmar has been putting together some good catches over the last few days. It will be cold this weekend but the fish should cooperate.

From Capt. Jimmy and the Miss Belmar Princess

Well went back to the same area today located some medium sized MACKEREL made some quick drift here and there than around 12ish it HAPPENED what we have been waiting for. The drift of drifts The wind let up a little and we had a nice shot of fish for an HOUR AND A HALF on one drift. Macks were flying 1-4 on a string banging away not real fast , but enough to make dents in the cooloers. At the end of the day some people had close to 100 quart cooles full some had rollong coolers full and some had less. Each day we are seeing a little more improvement.
